Dr. Jozef I. Nissimov
Dr. Nissimov's path in research started with a BSc and MSc in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth in the UK. He then continued to a PhD in Biosciences at the University of Nottingham, in collaboration with the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, also in the UK. He then completed a postdoc at Rutgers University in the US, after which he took a teaching position at the Sottish Association for Marine Science. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Waterloo since 2020. In addition to research at Waterloo, he teaches undergraduate courses in Applied Microbiology, Virology, and Marine Biology. He is a 2021 recipient of the prestigious Norma J. Lang Early Career Fellowship awarded by the Phycological Society of America.
